Casino games have long and captivating history that dates back to the ancient times. The largest ancient cultures, including Egypt, Greece and Rome, were swept by casino games upbeating the life of ancient gamers.

There are quite different theories about the invention of roulette games. However, most of them agree that roulette is likely to come from ancient Greece, where soldiers created a game using a shield, which was spun on the top of a spear. They marked section on the shield and placed bets on where the shield would stop. The Romans played similar games, using spinning chariot wheels. French mathematician Blaise Pascal is also said to be the creator the roulette wheels as a result of his experiment with perpetual motion machines.

Casino games were usually played in special buildings aimed at entertaining people, where they could dance, listen to music and, of course, gamble. Italians called such a country house “casino”, a diminutive of “casa” (means “house” in English). Time passed by, and the main activity of such casinos focused mostly on gambling. The meaning of “casino” equal to gambling establishment was finally set in the 19th century. Today the gambling industry boasts not only land-based resorts but virtual, internet casinos known as online casinos.

The result of the last throw of dice or spin of wheel does not affect the next event. Each event has the same odds, in other words, when you throw a coin the chance of throwing tails is always 50%. The outcome is independent, separate and not related to the past or succeeding event. In these games, the dice, wheel or ball cannot remember what happened and you cannot calculate with it.

Casino games of skills are: blackjack, baccarat, video poker, regular poker, sports, horse racing etc. The results of the past event can influence the next results. For instance, if all the aces have shown up in the first round of blackjack, you know that no more will turn up until the deck is reshuffled. Playing perfect strategy therefore will increase your chances of winning. In these games you have to be aware of what is going on, make calculations and get informed before playing.
